Gladiators star Fury becomes NSPCC Campaigner for Childhood

TV personality and former rugby union player, Jodie Ounsley, has been revealed as our newest Campaigner for Childhood.

Jodie Ounsley

  • To mark her appointment, Jodie visited the London base of our Childline service to learn more about their vital work.
  • As part of her role, Jodie is encouraging children to access our Speak out Stay safe resources, designed to help keep children safe from harm.
  • During her trip she learnt about the crucial role we play in supporting young people who are facing challenges, such as abuse or online harms.

Jodie was warmly welcomed to the Childline offices by Olivia Fuller, Childline practitioner, and Jenna Lloyd, strategic services manager for our Schools Programme. During her visit, Jodie toured the office with Olivia, meeting other staff members and many Childline counsellors.

During her visit, the star also filmed child-facing content for our Speak out Stay safe programme. The films are aimed at supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Speak out Stay safe is a free programme designed for children aged 5 to 11 that equips children with the knowledge to help them stay safe from abuse and neglect in an age-appropriate way.

The Gladiators star, who was born profoundly deaf, recently met local children and staff in Liverpool last October to learn how we help keep young people from the deaf community safe.

As a Campaigner for Childhood, Jodie will promote our services through her platform, amplifying campaigns, supporting fundraising events, and engaging with our frontline services and children.

Jodie Ounsley said:

“I’m immensely proud to become a campaigner for this wonderful and vital charity. The NSPCC offers incredible support to children at their most vulnerable and is dedicated to being there for young people.

“I’m a passionate supporter of the work the charity has done for children, in particular the online safety resources for the d/Deaf community, which warmed my heart. I’m confident we are on the right track to ensuring every child has somewhere to turn when they need support.

“To any children reading this, please remember, you never have to be afraid to ask for help. Childline is a confidential service that can support you whatever challenges you may be facing.”

Jodie adds her role at the NSPCC to a growing list of exciting ventures, including an appearance in Peppa Pig as an audiologist and the release of her new book, Strong Girls: Be Powerful, Be Positive, Be a Team Player, on 9 April 2026.

Barry Laker, service head at Childline, said:

“We thoroughly enjoyed welcoming Jodie to Childline for a visit to celebrate her becoming an NSPCC Campaigner for Childhood. Through her success as Fury on Gladiators, Jodie has become a familiar face on our screens, and her story continues to inspire and empower young people across the country.

“Jodie has captured the hearts of families and children through her work, and with her support, we hope to encourage as many young people as possible to reach out for help, whatever their worry.”
