Embrace your inner child this Childhood Day and take part in the Childhood Day Mile!

We’re asking people to get together to move a mile and raise money for children.

Take part on your own, with friends, family, colleagues or your furry friends. The Childhood Day Mile is for everyone.

How should you do your mile? That’s completely up to you! Grab a friend and do it three-legged, get the team together to dribble a football the whole way or join up with colleagues and go the distance as a team in a relay race or lunchtime walk. Take a look at our FAQ section for more inspiration!

By joining us this Childhood Day, your fundraising will help us provide vital services across the UK and Channel Island to help prevent child abuse.

Why should I take part?

Half a million children suffer abuse or neglect a year in the UK. That means 7 children in a classroom experience abuse before they turn 18. This can’t go on – and it doesn’t have to. By joining us this Childhood Day you can play your part in helping us stop child abuse.

If you have a group of people wanting to take part, nominate 1 person to register on behalf of the group. This person will receive the key information to give to the other members of the group. The nominee will also have a fundraising page set up on Enthuse that the whole group can use to fundraise.

If you have any questions, please email childhoodday@nspcc.org.uk

We have a Childhood Day Mile Facebook group that we encourage all participants to join after signing up here.

You can use the Facebook group to interact with other people taking part, keep up to date with information about the event, and ask us any questions you may have.

Search 'NSPCC's Childhood Day Mile' on Facebook to join.

Children are very welcome to take part. But due to the age restrictions on our forms, we'll need a parent or guardian to register on their behalf. If you're taking part as a family and raising money together, we only need one person to sign up as the lead.

Once you've signed up, we'll send you regular emails with resources, tips and advice to help you with your fundraising and planning your mile.

You'll also get access to our Childhood Day Mile Facebook group where you can keep up to date with any key event information and meet other people taking part.

Our Childhood Day team will also be on hand throughout to help you with any questions you might have. You can get in touch with them by emailing childhoodday@nspcc.org.uk

After you've signed up for the mile, we'll let you know how you can get/purchase t-shirts ready for your mile. Keep an eye out for a link in your confirmation email, or email us at childhoodday@nspcc.org.uk and we can help!

We're asking all participants to raise as much as they are comfortable raising. We are grateful for any amount given.

Your fundraising will go towards our vital work, ensuring we can be there for children when they need us most.

  • £25 could pay for a trained practitioner for 1 hour, supporting parents, families and their children.
  • £150 could pay for practitioner for our Helpline for 1 shift, providing vital help and support to adults concerned about a child's welfare.
  • £1460 could pay to run Childline for an average of 1 hour.

As part of your registration, your own personal fundraising page will be set up for you on Enthuse. You can use it to collect donations for your mile.

2023 participant Claire completed her mile on the beach with her 9 year old daughter Ava, raising £105.

Your fundraising could go towards Childline, or it could help fund our theraputic services and our Helpline. Wherever the donation is needed most, that's where it will go.
