Why your support matters
Half a million children suffer abuse or neglect a year in the UK. That means seven children in a classroom experience abuse before they turn 18.
- On average, a child will contact Childline every 45 seconds.
- £4 could help answer a child's call for help to Childline.
- £3 could pay for the NSPCC Speak out Stay safe programme to reach one primary school child, teaching them how to recognise abuse and neglect, and empowering them to speak out if they're worried about anything.
- Last year there were almost 200,00 Childline counselling sessions with children and young people.
- £197 could pay for a trained practitioner for one day, helping children get back on track following abuse.
FAQs
Number Day is a free and inclusive maths-inspired fundraising day for children in nursery right through to secondary school, with free downloadable activities suitable for all ages and abilities.
It's the perfect way to get your school or nursery involved with fundraising and celebrating maths while helping to protect more children from abuse.
There are plenty of fun curriculum-based activities which take inspiration from famous game shows, current trends, exciting tasks, and teamwork, as well as lots of resources and ideas to make sure everyone can join in the fun, even if maths isn’t their favourite subject.
Each year we add new activities and pupils are also encouraged to Dress Up for Digits where they make a donation to wear an item of clothing with a number on it.
Number Day 2025 is happening on Friday 7 February!
Funds raised from Number Day will help to support vital NSPCC services like Speak out Stay Safe, which visits primary schools across the UK to teach children about the dangers of abuse and what they can do if they need help.
Meet our ambassador, Emmanuel Assuquo
Emmanuel Asuquo is supporting Number Day with a school tour and has said that:
"In my world, numbers have always been a double-edged sword. I grew up where they were a constant reminder of things we couldn't afford, dreams that seemed unreachable.
"But as I journeyed through life, these same numbers became my allies, unlocking doors to opportunities and empowerment...
"Now, I want to pass that key to the next generation. Number Day isn't just about maths; it's about equipping our youth with the confidence to tackle life's financial puzzles head-on.
"It's about transforming numbers from a source of anxiety to a foundation of financial literacy and freedom.
"I've seen firsthand the power of being financially literate – it's a game-changer, a life-changer even! And it's why I'm pouring my passion into this cause. Because when we empower our young people to master numbers, we're setting them up to make a difference, not just in their bank accounts, but in their communities and beyond.
"So, let's rally behind Number Day on Friday 7 February 2025. Let's make it resonate in every classroom and every home, because every child who learns to befriend numbers today shapes a smarter, braver, and financially literate tomorrow."
